BalancE

I have often heard and read the statement, “Live life each day like there is no tomorrow!” I couldn’t disagree more. Well, logically there are a lot of flaws in it, lets not get into that. But still, It disagrees with the basic law of nature, “BALANCE”. Above statement encourages man to live more freely and carelessly, thus increasing randomness, and subsequently the entropy. Nature tries to resist it. It tries to balance everything around us, everything which we mankind are trying to disturb. Its very similar to stable equilibrium that we refer in Physics. For example, a small ball in a big bowl. The more you try to disturb the ball from its central position, more the force is applied on it to come back. Similar is environment, if you try to disrupt it , it tries to restore its position. But Balance isn’t just restricted to environment, its everywhere around us, in every little thing. While walking your left hand goes forward, your right hand backward. Balance. You are eating biscuits dipping them in tea: dip for long, it gets too soggy; dip for lesser time, not desired effect on biscuit. Balance. When you are cycling, at good speeds you never turn your handle while turning, you are just leaning on one side. Balance. If there are bad people on Earth, there are good people too. Balance. Balanced diet, Balanced economic growth, Balanced equation, Balanced ecosystem, Balanced judgement, and finally Balanced Life.We come across it everywhere. Our whole life is a balance. Balance of good and bad, our needs and duties, work and leisure. Balance of what we are giving and what we are taking from this world. Its everywhere. Every action you do is affecting some balance that is invisibly being maintained. If you try to disrupt it, knowingly or otherwise, there can be serious problems. You can be angry and you can be gentle. If you are just one of them all the time, trust me, there will be hurdles ahead. You have to have a balance. In हिंदी, there is a writing in शास्त्र, “अति सर्वत्र वर्जयेत”. Means excess should be avoided everywhere. Basically it tells that you should keep a balance in everything. Tilting the balance in any side will throw everything off-balance. Find that balance. I can’t say you will live happily if you find it, because there has to be a balance between joys and sorrows! And now as I have used 22 ‘balance’s here, I am just going to keep this article balanced and finish off.

Quote of the Day:
A lecture should be like a mini skirt. Short enough to keep interest and long enough to cover the subject. balanced.

  1. one question - how does NOT living freely imply stability (balance). coz according to gaseous theory, the more free the atoms are, lower is the energy, and higher the stability/balance.

  2. Well, if people are allowed to do whatever they want, then this earth would be chaos. There would be utter confusion and then there would not be freedom, but fear. As for a gas, atoms and molecules are free and so have more energy. Consider instead a solid, where constituent particles are confined, and its most stable.
